Cookie policy

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. The next time you open a page on the site, the browser sends the cookie back, and the site can recognise you. That is how a website remembers that you are logged in.

The cookies we use

All of these are set by our own website (danishwithlui.com), which runs on WordPress. None of them is used to follow you around the web.

CookieWhat it doesHow long it stays
wordpress_logged_in_…Keeps you logged in to your practice page.Until you close your browser, and at most 2 days. If you tick “Keep me logged in on this device”, 14 days.
wordpress_sec_…Confirms your login on secure pages. Works together with the cookie above.Same as above.
wordpress_test_cookieChecks that your browser accepts cookies when you log in.Until you close your browser.
wp-settings-…, wp-settings-time-…Remembers settings in the administration area. Only set for the site owner, never for students.1 year.

The dots stand for a code that is different on every WordPress site.

What we do not do

  • No analytics (such as Google Analytics) and no advertising networks.
  • No embedded videos, maps, fonts or scripts from other companies. The fonts are hosted on our own server.
  • Nothing is stored in your browser’s local storage. Your profile, answers and progress are saved on your account on our server, not in the browser.

Links to other sites

The site links to Preply, where lessons with Lui are booked. When you click such a link, you leave danishwithlui.com, and Preply’s own cookie policy applies.

How to delete or block cookies

You can delete cookies and block new ones in your browser’s settings. If you block our cookies, you can still read the front page, but you cannot log in to your practice page, because the login itself needs a cookie.

If this changes

If we ever add cookies that need your consent, for example for statistics, we will update this page and ask you first, before any such cookie is set.
