Terms of use
Last updated: 13 September 2026
In short
- The Danish course on this site is free. Lui made it, and it is for your own learning.
- If you also take private lessons with Lui, they are booked and paid on Preply, under Preply’s terms. These terms are only about this website.
- Be honest about who you are, keep your password to yourself, and do not copy or share the material.
- Some material is marked Beta, and the automatic hints are aids, not final answers. Ask Lui if you are in doubt.
1. What Danish with Lui is
danishwithlui.com is a website run by Lui Høyer (see the contact details at the bottom). Behind the login is a free online Danish course: each learner gets a practice page with dialogues, audio, vocabulary and exercises that are shaped by their own profile, and practice for the language school tests. The course is free of charge.
If you take private lessons with Lui, they are booked and paid on Preply. Preply’s terms apply to the lessons. These terms of use apply only to this website.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are younger, a parent or guardian must create it for you.
- Use your real first name and an email address you can read. Lui uses them to recognise you and to contact you about your account and the course.
- One account per person. Keep your password to yourself, and tell Lui if you think somebody else has used your account.
- You are responsible for what is done on your account.
3. How you may use the site
The course is for your own, personal learning. You may not:
- share your login, or use the site for or with other people;
- copy, download, publish, sell or pass on the material, except what you need to practise yourself (for example printing an exercise);
- try to get into other people’s accounts or the administration area, run automatic scripts against the site, or load it in a way that slows it down for others;
- write anything in the text fields that is illegal, threatening, hateful, or that infringes other people’s rights. Lui reads what you write;
- write personal information about other people (their names, addresses, health and so on) in the text fields.
4. Lui’s material and your texts
The dialogues, exercises, explanations, recordings, drawings and the software behind the site belong to Lui Høyer, unless something else is stated. You may use them for your own learning for as long as you have an account.
What you write yourself (answers, texts, mind maps) stays yours. You allow Lui to read it and to use it to teach you, and you allow the site to store it and show it back to you. Words you add to a picker, such as a job or a hobby, may be shown to other students as suggestions, without your name.
5. Quality of the material
Lui writes and checks the material, but the site can contain mistakes. Material marked Beta is still being checked. The automatic checks, hints and “Show answer” buttons are aids for practising, not the final word on Danish grammar. The language school modules follow the public descriptions of the Danish language tests, but they are our own material and not the official tests, and we cannot promise any exam result.
6. Availability and changes
We try to keep the site running, but it can be unavailable because of maintenance, errors or things outside our control. Lui may change, add or remove material and features at any time.
7. Ending the account
You can end your account at any time by writing to Lui. Lui may close an account that breaks these terms, and she may delete accounts that have not been used for three years. When an account is deleted, the data in it is deleted as described in the privacy policy.
8. Liability
The course is free and is provided as it is. To the extent Danish law allows, Lui is not liable for any loss caused by using the site or by mistakes in the material. This does not limit liability that cannot be excluded by law, for example for intent or gross negligence.
9. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Danish law. Disputes are settled by the Danish courts. If you are a consumer in another EU country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your own country.
10. Changes to these terms
When we change these terms, we change the date at the top. If a change is important, we tell you on your practice page or by email. If you keep using the site after the change, you accept the new terms.
